- ½ cup lotus seeds (dried or fresh)
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp raw honey (or to taste)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- ½ cup milk (dairy or plant-based, optional)
- 1–2 dates (for extra natural sweetness, optional)
Instructions
- Soak or Boil Lotus Seeds: If using dried lotus seeds, soak them in warm water for 3-4 hours or boil them for 15 minutes until soft.
- Blend the Ingredients: In a blender, add lotus seeds, water, and dates (if using). Blend until smooth.
- Strain (Optional): If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve.
- Heat the Drink: Pour the blended mixture into a saucepan and warm it over low heat, stirring occasionally. Avoid boiling.
- Add Honey & Vanilla: Remove from heat and stir in honey and vanilla extract for extra flavor.
- Serve & Enjoy: Pour into a cup, optionally mix in milk, and enjoy warm or chilled.
Notes
- Adjust Sweetness: You can add more honey or dates depending on your preferred level of sweetness.
- Make It Creamier: Use almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk for a richer texture.
- Chilled Version: Refrigerate for 2-3 hours and serve cold for a refreshing summer drink.
