  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Brings moisture and a hint of caramel.
  • 2 large eggs Add moisture and structure.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Leavening agent for a soft, chewy result.
  • a pinch salt Enhances sweetness and flavor contrast.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Can use semi-sweet, dark, or chopped chocolate.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for cookie spreading.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown around the edges and still soft in the middle.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For extra chewy cookies, refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking; this helps develop flavors.
