Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, combining thoroughly.
- Stir in the oats, chocolate chips, and nuts (or any substitutes you prefer).
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
For a unique touch, sprinkle some flaky sea salt on top before baking for an elevated flavor burst. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
