Preparation
- Cut off the crusts from the thick slices of bread.
- Cut each slice into three thick strips lengthwise and set them aside.
- In a shallow dish, combine sugar and cinnamon, mixing them well.
- In another shallow dish, add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until fully combined.
Cooking
- Soak the bread sticks in the egg mixture for about 30 seconds on all sides.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over low medium heat.
- Place the soaked bread sticks in the pan and cook until golden brown on each side.
- Use tongs to move the sticks into the cinnamon and sugar mixture, rolling them to coat evenly.
- Add more butter if needed and continue cooking the remaining bread pieces.
- Serve warm with your favorite syrup or dipping sauce.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. They can be frozen for 1-2 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
