Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces Ribeye, filet mignon, or sirloin steak Use the best quality steak available.
Flavor Enhancers
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter Essential for the butter sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For cooking the steak.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 sprig Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary) Enhances the flavor profile.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt Season generously for flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Freshly cracked black pepper For seasoning the steak.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 splash White wine For added flavor, if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce For a hint of tanginess, if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and let the steak come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Season both sides of your steak generously with kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
Cooking
  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add a splash of olive oil.
  2. Once the oil is shimmering, place the steak in the pan, ensuring not to overcrowd it.
  3. Cook the steak for about 3-5 minutes without touching it to form a crust.
  4. After achieving a brown crust, flip the steak and add the butter, garlic cloves, and fresh herbs to the pan.
  5. Baste the melting butter over the steak with a spoon.
  6. Continue cooking until desired doneness is reached (aim for an internal temperature of 130°F for medium-rare).
Finishing
  1. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  2. Serve the steak drizzled with the aromatic butter sauce.

Notes

Use high-quality meat and preheat your pan for the best results. Avoid common mistakes like overcooking the steak and under-seasoning.
