  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed) For richer flavor
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt Plus more for sprinkling
  • 1 cup caramel bits Or use homemade caramel sauce

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  5. Fold in the caramel bits gently into the dough.
  6. Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, allowing space for spreading.
  7. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over each dough ball before baking.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
  2. Let them cool for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

For extra chewiness, chill the dough in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before baking.
