Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Tender beef steak (Sirloin or Filet mignon) Choose a tender cut for the best flavor.
  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes Provides creaminess.
  • 2 cloves Garlic For an aromatic punch.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley For garnish.
Seasonings and Fats
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Optional for additional depth.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil or butter For searing the steak.
  • 1/2 cup Milk or cream For the mashed potatoes.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and peel the Yukon Gold potatoes.
  2. Cut the steak into bite-sized pieces and season generously with salt and pepper.
Cooking
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the potatoes, cooking until tender.
  2. While the potatoes are boiling, heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the seasoned steak bites to the skillet, searing them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until a caramelized crust forms.
  4. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest while finishing the mashed potatoes.
  5. Drain the cooked potatoes, return them to the pot, and add a dollop of butter and a splash of milk; mash until creamy.
  6. Season the mashed potatoes with salt and a hint of pepper to taste.
Serving
  1. Serve the steak bites atop a generous helping of mashed potatoes.
  2. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley.

Notes

For best results, ensure your skillet is adequately heated before adding the steak. Allowing the meat to rest after cooking allows its juices to redistribute. Avoid overcooking the steak and take your time with the mashing process for a creamy texture.
